Hello good peoples of the world.

The total niceness show has existed from before the beginning of time and has always sought to bring you new and innovative sounds from around the world. Whether dubstep from the darkest caverns of Bristol, or techno from the wilds of Canada.
Recently there has been a lull in activities and the once heady and exciting guest schedule has become slightly more barren than it once was.

To turn the tables on this turn of events, I shall be reinvigorating the show with lots of new and exciting features including lots more guest to astonish and amaze.

This Sunday we have the return of some very special guests, who were some true originators from the original total niceness parties from the early naughties: The line up has yet to be confirmed but should include: Dj Idle, The Breaks Professor & Paul Torch. More to be confirmed.

Expect the unexpected as ever with everything from Breaks to Techno, Dubstep to House, via Drum & Bass and old skool and back again.

The Das Meisters of whom Mr Torch and Professor are members have been playing breaks since its inception and drum and bass before then, whilst Idle is a hardcore connoisseur and a scratching expert, so its gonna be a a true mix and blend of styles and fashions. As for I, I shall be playing whatever the mood takes me as usual.

Total Niceness // BASS CHRONICLES #8 promises to be one of our most lively events to date at the White Lion.

On Saturday October 7th we have a top line up ready to make you jump an sway the night away with us

Special guests for the night will include the legendary UNIQUE 3(Edzy). Unique 3 were among the true Old Skool innovators who helped forge the early UK 'Bleep' House sound in the late eighties and ended up inspiring several of this countries leading electronic artists to start making music themselves !!

Moving on to the present - Unique 3 are still producing slick beats and have recently been signed to Fat! Records - I look forward to hearing what Edzy has created for release on one of the UK's major breaks labels. A typical Unique 3 DJ Set can span old skool electro, early 80's synth stuff and roll straight across the spectrum to techno, house, breaks and end up with a bit of Drum & Bass - what you get as standard though will be basslines to make you move yo ass

To keep the temperature stoked we have invited Luton based Rob Focus & Mack the Knife (from 5 piece Apply the Breaks crew DJ's who are now Raindance Breaks room regulars down at the SEOne club in London Bridge). Rob and Mack regularly hype crowds up Bedfordshire way with their regular Apply the Breaks nights and residency at St Albans Monday Club. You can catch Rob regularly guesting on the Jimmy MOFO show on www.iBreaks.co.uk 8-10pm GMT - and if you read MOFO Magazine you will know that Mack keeps us up to date with regular journalistic contributions. Their tear-out selection rocks dance floors every where they play and they are guaranteed to hit the spot for us on October 7th.

To complete our guest line up we have Shaman - the leading force behind East London breaks night URBAN NIGHTS. Over the past few months their event has gone from strength to strength at the Pool Bar on Curtain Road offering a mix of on the up Breaks DJ's and solid production featuring live drumming / scratching & VJ'ing to compliment the Beats, Breaks & Bass mayhem

Well - it looks like summer has burned itself out for another year but we will certainly not be letting things cool down at Total Niceness // BASS CHRONICLES # 7 !!

This month we welcome NSB radio's 'Serato Sessionz' maestro Collins 303 down to The White Lion for the first time. Collins as some of you may know is a rather versatile DJ. If you are one of those people not in the know then just visit www.collins303.com and check his mix download section to see just what I am on about.

At home with selecting and blending a jacking breaks set as much as he is with carving out a classic 80's retro pop set, Collins is proving himself to be a modern day alchemist with the Rane Serato !

Mr 303 will be performing a 2hr set for us on Saturday so if you have not seen him in action then here's the perfect opportunity. If you have seen him in residency at nights such as Armitage Skanks or Prolific/Contrast then you'll be ready for his bubbling musical melting pot.

Getting back to the rest of our line up we have Total Niceness legend Benergy to kick off the night and ease us on our way with his regular warm up set stylings.

And finally, with Delsa catching some rays over in Marbella for a few days it will be left for myself and Boy Wonder to turn up the heat for the final 2 hours and entertain you with a tearout set spanning old skool, breaks and some skankin' D&B rhythms guaranteed to make the people jump and sway !

Well hes done it, big John Terry was unvieled today as the new England captain and it was thoroughly deserved in my opinion, as a Chelsea fan I may be slightly biased but in his rise from the youth ranks to be the captain of Chelsea and now England I think its a great achievement. To all you scousers who thought Gerrard would make the better captain, well you can fuck off.

Delsa amazing adventures in and around brizzle

For the last month or so I have been taking a few trips into the surrounding areas of bristol to check out some of the beautiful scenery, eat some pub lunches from some fine west country establishments, smoke a few sneaky spliffs and to get a bit of exercise too. My first trips were based around the muddy old river avon, and the first one I took was to the serene village of pill which I got to via the beautiful ashton court estate where I stopped for a moment to contemplate the deer. The first picture is from the downs where I suveyed my return route through the leighwoods and avon valley nature reserve on the side of the avon coming back into bristol. From here I continued to ashton court and then I had a rather tasty pub lunch in a place called Abbots Leigh on he way, although I thought the folk may be a touch backward there I was releaved to find that they did have a chip and pin card reader for me to buy some food with, sadly it turned out they were a bit slow and they locked me in the garden as they decided to close the pub whilst I was still eating and enjoying my pint. from here i journeyed to Pill which was down a fuck off big hill which was quite fun, I had a rather fun trip back along the river from there but seemed to spend half my time dodging rabbits who seemed to be sun bathing on the path. From here I returned to bristol on the south side and relaxed for a spot of sun bathing on a piece of waste ground which is something south bristol seems to have in large supply.

At Total Niceness//Bass Chronicles this month we have a proper summer treat in store for you - an NSB Radio ‘Tunesday’ line up !

Recreating the Tunesday vibe in the place we have 3 DJ’s from NSB Radio’s Tuesday roster : Delsa (Afternoon Tea 1-3pm), Funkbudha (Fragile Sessions 3-6pm) and Boy Wonder (Armitage Skanks 6-8pm).

Tunesday is one of NSB’s most loved days and these guys are gonna show you why with some top drawer selections. If you came along last month then you will have seen Delsa and Boy Wonder tear the floor up with their sets and help put smiles back on everyone’s faces after the England penalty misery.

This month we give a big welcome to the Funkbudha on his Total Niceness debut – hope your settling back into things nicely back in Blighty and happy birthday for recently from all of us.

We’ve also got our very own Benergy back from a month off to warm up the dancefloor with his totally nice selection – this man never fails to get the ladies up and shaking their stuff !

And we have another recent birthday to celebrate too. Paul Torch from South London DJ collective Das Miesters is with us - refreshed from a nice little working holiday in the Scottish highlands for the Wickerman festival - he will be playing a selection of Acid House classics for us and is celebrating reaching…the big Four 0 !

1) Harald Schumacher v France, 1982 : Sometimes known as Toni, always known as the goalkeeper who all but killed Patrick Battiston. Referee's response : goal kick.

2) Mario David v Chile, 1962 : They didn't call it the Battle of Santiago for nothing, you know. David takes revenge on the Chilean who broke his team-mate's nose (see no. 15) by executing a perfect karate kick on his neck. Red card.

3) Eric Cantona v some French club, 1992 : You must know this one, it's shown all the time. Player releases ball; a second later Cantona jumps - jumps - in two-footed on the player's mid-leg region. Red card immediately.

4) Graeme Souness v Dynamo Bucharest, 1986 : Like Cantona, except the studs were in the groin. Hmm. Best not to think about that one for too long, really.

6) Steven Pressley v Aberdeen, 1998 : 'I can appreciate how it might have looked on TV but I've not doubts there was no malice in the tackle.' Pressley, obviously shrugging off any inconvenience that Smith's karate kick onto his head might have caused.

7) Julian Dicks v Chelsea, 1996 : Dicks goes unpunished, Spencer needs 30 stitches in his head after it meets the studs of Dicks' boot.

8) Mark Bosnich v Spurs, 1993 : Had it not happened on the same night that Matthew Simmons got his Warhol-esque 15 minutes of fame, Mark 'I'm Basil Fawlty, me, honest' Bosnich would have got more attention for knocking Klinsmann out. As it is, his knee-to-forehead-of-standing-Klinsmann assault remains a hazy memory for most. Including Jurgen himself, one suspects.

9) Jamaican player v Toros Neza, 1997 : One of the greatest fights in football history - ending with pre-English era Jamaicans bringing chairs, bricks and broken glass onto the pitch to aid their cause. Sadly, we can only pick one moment - about 7 seconds into the brawl, a Jamaican gets a full drop kick in the back.

10) Roy Keane v Crystal Palace, 1994 : Before this FA Cup semi-final replay, the two managers had appealed for calm between the fans after the first game had seen fighting that led to the death of a Palace fan. All the more ironic, then, that Keane should give Gareth Southgate a set of studs in the chest.

11) Eric Cantona v Swindon, 1994 : Eric's first sending-off in England, and no expense was spared either - a full set of right boot studs in John Moncur's chest, with the referee about six yards away.

12) Gianluca Pagliuca v Roma, 1993 : Pagliuca gets sent off on an occasional basis for professional fouls, but this is by far his best work. On a wet pitch, he starts the slide towards the onrushing striker from four yards out, and yet still packs enough energy into the, er, 'tackle' to send the player into a half-somersault which ends with him landing on his neck.

13) Leonardo v USA, 1994 : Kevin Keegan's pre-1998 finest commentating moment, as he defends the Brazilian's right to elbow Tab Ramos in the face, breaking his nose, by claiming that Ramos should have been disciplined for holding Leonardo's shirt, and thus any later actions should be nullified.

14) Paul Bosveldt v Man Utd, 1997 : Dennis Irwin nearly gets the lower part of his body snapped in two as Bosveldt's boots land halfway up his leg. The moment that turned the whole country behind United's European bid. If only for a few seconds.

15) Sanchez v Italy, 1962 : Back to Santiago, and the Chilean breaks Maschinot's nose with a punch that most of the heavyweight division would be proud of.

16) Marco Boogers v Man Utd, 1994 : Two things everyone knows about Boogers : he ended up living in a caravan, and he nearly cut Gary Neville's legs off with a wild challenge in his only West Ham appearence.

17) Cameroon team v Argentina, 1990 : A team effort - Caniggia avoids one hospital tackle, only to be sent flying by a second two-footed challenge. Yes, it wasn't just in the last World Cup that Cameroon earned their 'African Uruguay' tag.

18) Dennis Wise v Middlesbrough, 1998 : Gazza can give out the knocks, but he also gets them - his Coca-Cola Cup final enlivened by Wise's jump-in two-footed challenge on his right leg.

19) Willie Young v Arsenal, 1980 : Paul Allen, already the youngest player in this century's FA Cup Finals, would have scored a 'stuff of dreams' goal late on, had Young not crudely, but effectively, cut him down.

20) Ian Wright v Man Utd, 1997 : Some people claimed that Schmeichel wasn't actually touched by Wright's full-studs-on-leg-over-the-top-of-the-ball stamp, even though Wright later admitted it, and the two had to be seperated by police in the tunnel after Wright pushed away stewards and team-mates alike to get to Schmeichel, who he'd earlier claimed had racially abused him.

21) Alan Shearer v Leicester, 1998 : What's this doing here? The FA said he was only trying to free himself from Neil Lennon's legs, so why should we doubt them?

22) Giuseppe Bergomi v Norway, 1993 : Bergomi isn't one to hang around - sent off 15 seconds after coming on as sub after kicking a prone Norwegian in the face in a crucial World Cup qualifier.

23) Stuart Pearce v France, 1991 : A match better remembered for a) Graham Taylor dropping Lineker for David Hirst, b) Alan Shearer's first international goal, and c) Geoff Thomas single-handedly finishing his international career. What they don't remember is Psycho forcing a forward roll-cum-somersault out of a French midfielder who had let go of the ball a split second earlier.

24) Andoni Goicochea v Maradona, 1987 : The Butcher of Bilbao broke Maradona's right leg with a two footed challenge. He keeps the boot that made contact in a glass display case in his house. Charming.

25) David Batty v Tunisia, 1998 : OK, so Batty probably didn't mean to overhead-kick a Tunisian in the face so hard that Batty spun 180 degrees in the air...

26) Vinny Jones v Man City, 1990 : A normal Wimbledon-Man City old 1st Division game. Kick off. The ball is passed to the City striker. Who is promptly sent flying by Vinny. Three seconds in, and Jones breaks his own fastest league booking record (which stood at two seconds longer)

27) Julian Dicks v Man Utd, 1996 : Andy Cole was sent head over arse by a sliding two-footed challenge. Andy Gray nearly spontaneously combusted, while even David Mellor called Dicks an animal (Dicks amusingly threatened to sue)

28) Peter Schmeichel v Charlton, 1994 : A classic of the kamikaze goalkeeper collection - Kim Grant is sent flying 30 yards out by a goalkeeper seemingly oblivious to the fact that Rufus still had Paul Parker to beat. And to compound the action, Schmeichel handballed as well. A red resulted, although United still won 3-1.

29) Kevin Moran v Everton, 1985 : The first Cup final dismissal, and a challenge which Moran put everything into. I bet that in the days after United won that match someone said that they should have the Cup win rescinded because of the sending off.

30) Eric Cantona v Norwich, 1994 : The first sign, really, that Cantona was a 'bit of a livewire', as he kicked a passing Ian Butterworth in the stomach. Jimmy Hill complained, at which Alex Ferguson said that the BBC were Liverpool supporters. Incredibly (for the time), some people didn't think that was the case.

31) Faustino Asprilla v Man City, 1993 : Asprilla, in an early match for Newcastle, elbows Keith Curle in the face in the first half. Not content with that, he ends the match by headbutting him. Asprilla is eventually banned for four matches; curiously, Curle is also called before the FA, but let off.

32) Robbie Slater v West Ham, 1997 : Hugo Porfirio landed on the advertising boards a short distance away after being launched by a sliding challenge.

33) Barry Richardson v Macclesfield, 1998 : Richardson actually got his contract cancelled after kicking a prostrate opponent in the chest, launching a mass brawl.

34) Michael Owen v Manchester United, 1998 : Someone recently said that Owen had 'a rock solid temperament'. Having never seen his headbutt sending-off offence in an England U-18 game, we'll have to settle for his attempted disabling of Ronny Johnsen's ankles that got him dismissed.

35) Tommy Widdrington v Port Vale, 1993 : Vale veteran John Jeffers was launched into the air after a full-blooded foul by Widdrington.

36) Des Walker v Ipswich, 1993 : A forgotten classic which earned Walker a red card after the game, for headbutting John Wark on the back of the neck.

37) Joao Morais v Brazil, 1966 : For all Eusebio's brilliance in that World Cup, they could never quite shake off the memory of their player firstly upending Edson Arantes with a sliding tackle, and then, when he got up, going for the old favourite 'kick in the thigh' method that ruled Pele (who never played at Wembley, y'know) out of the rest of the tournament.

Tonight marks the end of the fortnightly pace we have set for the past 2 years down at Inigo. We will be switching to a less frequent service from now on as we now have our fingers firmly plugged into a couple of other pies : Lovage @ The White House in Clapham (Last Thursday of each month) and Total Niceness : Bass Chronicles @ The White Lion in Streatham (First Saturday of every month). Yes, Its that time of the month again, pay days should be blossuming as we speak along with the flowers of spring. As we start another month it means its time for another installment of Total Niceness Bass Chronicles and this time we are at number 3 in the series another splendid mash up of all things bass related from Breaks, to Electro via some raw House with a large slice of dubstep if i've got anything to do with it, i might even drop Duppy if i get over excited, down at the White Lion I don't know whether playing that track will get me showered with empties or howered with praise so maybe watch this space.
This month we've got a strictly resisdents special with four members of the hardcore total niceness massive gracing the decks..........................................
Stealing Benergy's thunder and also his first set is non other than myself kickstarting proceedings with some more laidback beats, mayeb some prog and techy breaks, a smatterin of dubstep and possible a spot of electro if im in the mood for it.
Next up and never far from the start of things is Mr Benergy who apart from showcasing a large selection of more uplifting breakbeats and house related bizniz will be charming all and sundry allnight with his wit and easy going banter, if you see him get him a cider or something that looks pretty to drink and you'll hit it off great.
Third in the order of things and central to proceedings is non other than Gus, a Total Niceness trooper through and through whos got us out of a few scrapes in his time. Gus is going to be playing some rasping prog house, as heavy on the bass as it is on the melody. If you've caught any of his sets own at Inigo or at Lovage at the White House, then you'll know your in for a treat.
Last but by no means least we have the one and only electro avenger Dj Idle, whos going going to amaze, confuse, batter and bruise most likely with a et that will truely define bass heavy, with anything from breaks and electro, to old skool hardcore mayhem, although if he starts with the hardcore then i'm heading to the basement.

The venue for this new night will be The White Lion – 232 Streatham High Road. This is the sister bar of Jamm in Brixton and has recently been refurbished (by man of many talents our very own Benergy).

Free from the reservations of a Tuesday night BASS CHRONICLES is aiming to be lowdown & dirty from the start, providing some twisted Saturday night party basslines for South London to wind to. Essentially Breaks, Electro & Dubstep will be the weapons of choice for the nights.

If anyone fancies getting down to kent for this then Ii strongly advise it, I am gonna try and trooper across from Bristol to make this, mainly due to the attendance of SOTEG who is making a rare UK performance and is not to be missed. Also, although its not on the poster the Funk Buddha is also making an appearance all the way from Amsterdam and as i have done a radio show before him for the last two months I can proclaim that he will providing a varied selection that will bring the bass and defienatly will not dispapoint. Also Henryo!d and Deadman Dj who I have yet to catch live but i am sure will not disapoint providing electro related action.
Hopefully on my return to Kent for following many japes there in my crazy slighty more youthful and svelte days i won't run into any old adversaries/crazy ex girl friends or any other crazy medway folk i may have upset last time i was there. Total Niceness tonight features the one and only Mjoogoo, the man who it is said invented the term culinary breaks and is well known for his saturday show afternoon show on nuskoolbreaks radio (check the link to my show it will take you there). To kick start Total Niceness for 2006 we have a little link up with the radio show and were featuring a guest mix on my show at 1 - 3pm of Paul Torch who you can then catch live at Inigo back to back with Gillotron. These two veterans have been playing with the Total Niceness since I linked up with them at their legendary Future Fusion parties in Brixton a fair few years back. The Das Miesters are well known for the varied selection oof fucky beats playing everything from electro to acid house via breaks. Also playing is Woody whos playin a varied selection of Hip Hop beats to kick back to, or bust of move too. Mr Luke Envoy will be literally kick starting the proceedings with a mixture of supposdely laid back sounds that promise to be anything but, if his last chill out set was anything to go by expect hip hop with machine gun noises and police sirens, nose bleed jungle and some grime infected dubstep it certainly will be worth getting there early for and definatly amaze and excite you in various ways and if your lucky he might sneek in some of his own guzzler productions . First off i'd like to say thank you to all the Total Niceness troopers who have followed us from our humble beginnings in the Medusa and wish you all a very happy Christmas and a devastating new year from all of us in the total niceness crew. I wish you all the best for 2006, this year is gonna bigger and better than ever for total niceness, watch out for Mr Luke Envoy its been a long time coming and he is about to release some serious business, one to watch for 2006. Total Niceness returns for the craziest party of the year. That’s right its the Christmas season and We will be down at the Inigo in Clapham/Battersea for our annual Christmas shindig featuring the cream of the total niceness crew, alas no benergy but he can schuuuuuuuut his mouth as he is in Belize and I’m sure he will be raising a toast with some sort of fancy cocktail lying on a beach. I am sure he will be more than enjoying himself. If there’s one thing that Mr Benergy enjoys its getting a suntan so I’m sure he’s got everything he wants for Christmas.
Anyway, what you really need to know is what the crack is for Tuesday, so let’s get down to business...........................

Kicking off proceedings is the one and only scratch master Mr idle who will be exciting and amazing us with his cutting, scratching and general deck trickery. This week he will be serving up some old skool hip hop beats to get the party underway, expect anything and everything from 80s Hip Hop and Electro to some other exotic gems which he will be pitching into the mix. Fresh from a Christmas trip back to his suburban drum and bass homeland amongst the m25 posse Mr Idle will be causing random out breaks of bumping and grinding amongst other things.

Next up is your truly Delsa alongside Luke Envoy, who will be joining me for the latter part of the set following my daring and somewhat long mission to extract him from the dark depths of Cornwall back for the Christmas Turkle. From me and Mr Envoy you can expect a large and loud selection of dubstep beats with grime trimmings and a breakstep side salad. We will be playing a deep and varied selection. Me and Luke are gonna be packing some lethal weapons so watch out for those, some super sneak peeks of new Scuba, Caspa, Luke Envoy and more are gonna be dropped so keep your ears peeled. We shall be making sure you have a very merry Christmas and warming people up for the New Year’s festivities.

Last but not least by a long shot it’s our number one electro house smut providers Smut Roast who will be amazing and exciting with their regular blend of suggestive beats. At the moment its not clear whether we shall be blessed with both Fran and Nadia but one thing is for sure whether its one or two of them Smut Roast are guaranteed to whet your appetites both audibly and visually. They'll be taking us up to the close and be providing some late night music for skunking, grinding, gyrating and whatever else you want to do. Following o from last years Christmas bash, it would be safe to say that there may well be crazy drunk girls dancing on the tables and I’ll say amen to that........................

Yes that right it’s the Christmas extravaganza part one featuring some old favourite and some festive new friends. Tonight we have the pleasure of welcoming some new people to the total niceness fold as it were, I'm not religious I’m just trying to sound a little literate. A Couple of new faces today, first off we have a new partner in crime for Mr Benergy, that’s right he's adding a touch of spice to his sets with a new mysterious female dj. So mysterious in fact that I couldn't even tell you her name. My apologies to the lady in question I have this matter rectified I just can't seem to contact Mr Ben at the moment. Suffice to say these too stella individuals will be providing you with some breaks and house related action for the start of your night and I’m sure they will not disappoint. Next up have an old favourite and original total niceness trooper from day one, well almost he has been supporting it ever since we started this at inigo but not from true day when we used to have the health and safety death trap at Medussa (that was awesome btw), I digress. Anyway ~ Mr Rob Focuz from Apply the Breaks one of the top breaks nights in the land. I can tell you from lots of experience that the people of Luton like to party, proper. He will be providing us with some upfront head down dancing music for you to skank out to. Next up we have our other new arrival and future total niceness legend Mr JoeBot, now before I go any further I’d like to apologies to him for my lack of attendance, but nah mean I have to earn my pea or I won' be able to buy records or eat tasty food or do the other things which I love so much (we wont mention my drug habit as that not cool mmkay). Anyway since JoeBot moved to London from Birmingham he’s been putting himself about quite a bit and has recently played various venues around town including the Dogstar and the Telegraph in Brixton with our old friend Mr Plazadefunk another total niceness legend. Sorry I get real side tracked. Joe Bot’s gonna be tickling you musical taste buds with a large selection of tuna, I would have like to stick one of his charts on here’s to give you an idea of what he plays but so far I have been unable to find one suffice to say it will be banging, and not in a hard house way, I hope. Yep that's right one of Intergrate's founding fathers - George Rosco is turrning 23 and tonight we dedicate an evening of Total Niceness to him.
Delsa has already achieved legendary status as a master piss artist on big occasions and hopefully we can aid him on his way to a memorable 2 day midweek hangover !
As you can see from the picture he doesn’t mind a drink or 2 whilst at the controls - Please don’t be alarmed by his relaxed pose, I can assure you that after 8 pints his musical skills reach new heights.
I think I have even heard that in the past a few 'sherbets' have given him the encouragement to try his hand at MC'ing over Happy Hardcore - don't worry though no mic will reach his grasp tonight and for the record I will not and have never indulged in the public airing of Happy Hardcore - case closed. 91-93 Hardcore - well that's a different story, one that must be told over again to educate the crowds of today in raw ruff beats.
Anyway enough preaching - Spirits and mixers are 2 for 1 before 10pm and with a champagne raffle later in the night I am sure that Mr Delsa will be well on the way to birthday oblivion come 2am.
Oh and watch out for a fix in that raffle - me and the whole crowd on the Bristol leg of the Kid Koala tour a couple of years back witnessed George brazenly cheat at bingo - low behaviour Delsa - tut tut tut !

Due to my recently getting a new job, (i was successful in my interview this morning woot) there will be a few changes to the line up on tuesday because i am unable to play the last set as i have to be back in brizzle me nizzle for a nine oclock start on wednesday due to this me and idle will be cancelling to a later date and the one and only original grandad of breakbeat mr clive morely will be stepping in to take mine and regs slot. This is probable a blessing in disguise cos as clive is riding high moment following his success air/platform 12 boat party and his first set at fabric (fanfares allround). Anyway i'll be stepping uup for a quick set earlier on sometime before blunote so i wont be disapearing from the line up entirely although i wont have idle dropping fat scratching and ghye old skool (which maybe a blessing too, the old skool or lack of)

Total Niceness - Birthday special - 11th October - I am Serious

Its my disreputable bastard little brothers birthday next tuesday an we've decided to celebrate it down the old inigo at our jolly total niceness bi-weekly bashment. As he is 19 this year (he can't be any older i'm sure) it should be a more civilised affair, that is if he's allowed in because i think he pissed off the manager about a month ago by being really loud outside afterwards so hopefully he been down there and kissed some ass or he won't be allowed to his own party. Any lets get down to the serious business, the music..................................

For this musical celebration of the little scumbag i've let him have some hand in what music is being played and although i refused to let him play his classic spice girls and mr blobby set i did give him some options on what djs would be playing for his and your audio delectation. Asever the evening is starting off with the one and only Benergy, who reujmour has it has got hold of some new records and will be entertaining and amusing us with a selection of breaks and prog-house between the hours of 8 and 1030 although we usually turn up a bit late so it will most likely be 830 onwards. Second to grace the decks will be the one and only Blunote who is a welcome return to the total niceness stable after a couple years spent wandering in the wilderness of bristol. Blunote is garunteed to inject both some fun and some funk into your evening with a selection of phat hip hop beats mixed with scrathing and juggling and all sorts of deck trickery which i would have problems explaing let alone performing (thats why i have my helpful sidekick idle for that technical bizzle. Standard). Next up we have the one and only Luke Envoy who is playing another of his now infamous hip hop sets although this time its gonna be for all the right reasons, he swears he'll only plasy tunes with guns shot noises in them if they are grime tunes, which is fine by me. Anyway hes gonna crunk the party up with some large hip hop cuts which me bro has even had a hand in suggesting a few (this maybe a very bad idea going on my brothers tastes but i reckon i can trust envoy on this one). Last but by no means least its (delsa) me and the old boy dj Idle, we're gonna amaze and amuse, toment and confuse anyone who is still there and ive even bought myself some new breaks tunes for the occassion evgen though i'm stil langushing in poverty out here in the sticks in brizzle. The second part of this months instalment of total niceness features the return of everyones favourite stately gentlemen the das meisters (sans gary the professor as hes got school) and there old friend mr Idle. Its a bit of an old skool affair in general and we should have andy aka the cats arse (seriously i don't know either) joining procedings aswell to add an air of the unexpected to the procedings. Expect a whirl wind mix of old skool and nu skool breaks with a touch of electro from idle and random mix of everything from house to reggae and back from the cats arse. I told them australians (any i could find) that we would win, but they were too sensible to listen to my crazed ramblings and even on friday the guy from work wouldnt believe me that when i told him we would still have them up and be celebrating tuesday. Well the day after and i'm still reeling from the celebrations last night. They would have lasted longer had i not been drinking since midday and didnt feel like death come midnight, or probable even earlier. Any way hardluck to the australians ( is there any nation that its more fun to beat, possible france or germany?) they played very well especially Warne, that fat skillful bastard, the only shit thing to cxome of this is that the cricket is never gonna be on regular telly any more only sky sports which is a fucking ripoff. No longer will i be able to while away 5 days at a time just drinkin beer and getting high and such with a semi-valid excuse. We've decided to have all the proper original residents, myself (delsa), Luke Envoy and the unstopable Benergy aswell, for a one off appearance with mr Luke Envoy playing a progressive set and all of us playing for two hours. Benergy is bringing a striaght up breaks set (probable with some madonna and daniel beddinfield thrown in for good measure) and i'll be mixing up another noxious combination of everything from progrssive house to tribal house, to bassline breaks, prog breaks, electro breaks, spun out dubstep, freaky gutter press and anything in between, it all depends how i'm feeling later but be aware that its gonna get serious like jme. I personally thin it will be mostly breaky beats but after having a little four beat resurgence in canada i'll probable play some housier sounds too, maybe with the Luke Envoy at the end. Its definately gonna be a two record bag job for me. We will also be celabrating Englands historic ashes victory and sacraficing a few australians too boot if you fancy popping down. Well, i just got back from canada last week and ive been a bit slow in sorting everything out around here. Idles been having some internet troubles at work aswell so hes not been on the case properly either. We are reevaluating how we are going to manage the flyering and promotion for the total niceness events with a generic flyer that we'll put out with the rotating residents and then post the specific line ups on this blog and on the other regular channels. It also looks like ui have finally securred myself a perminanant show on nuskoolbreaks.co.uk/radio, although it is in the daytime it will open new routes t foriegn listeners and offer a foot in a door for getting a later show at some point. Preliminarily it will be from 1-3 GMT every tuesday which will mean there should be one before every total niceness , which will be good and i might have some wierd guests on although it will probable depend on who is free during the day and we be able to come and get drunk of an afternoon. There will definately be an appearance from dj Gul (newport and south wales's finest) but apart from that who can say. The radio show will mainly be breaks'house/electro although i think i'm gonna do a little 30 minute grime/dubstep education spot every week just to keep people up to date with some different music that they might not know about. My two weeks in canada went even better than expected with some crazy sites to be seen and a set in one of the better/best clubs in Ottawa which went really well, it really makes a change playing in a club where all the most beautiful girls are just loving the music instead of coming up and asking if you've got any R&B or Garage. I played mostly progressive and tribal house with a spot of breaks to finish and although i didnt educate them about dubstep at the club, i saved it until the after party at chris's house where i was staying and everyone seemd to enjoy it. French canada was definately a highlight of the trip and damn, the girls there are ridiculous. we went to a strip club and this girl was humping the ceiling at the top of this pole, thats a sight i wont forget soon, i tell thee for true. All in all it was a properly decent holiday and me and luke envoy only had two proper bust up which is less than i expected going on holiday with him. Heres a little photo on me sleeping at envoys dads pictursce garden in the middle of knowwhere, i'm looking a bit like a ghosts but then who gives a fuck about that, eh (the eh is in honour of the canadians). I'd like to say a big thanks to steph and mel for putting up with me and envoy and a special thanks to chris for driving us all over the place, letting us stay and generally making sure we had a great time whilst we were in canada, orh and also paying for those table dances at the strip club. i'll be coming back next year if you'll 'ave me and if i can afford it. Props to the paulo and paulo and the Onervesal crew aswell for having play and offering me subsequent gigs next year. Recognise Fools.

Total Niceness returns once again to the inigo bar for some more tuesday night stupidness thats garunteed to ruin your wednesday. Tonight we have the myself and mr idle on a three deck mashup thats garunteed to be interesting if nothing else, we'll have the bass cranked up full and people hiding behind the bar to avoid the mashed up frequencys of regs electro tunes. We also have the wonderful das miesters back again ( happy birthday paul) sans the professor as ever. And to finish things off we've got the platform 12 boys, the one and only Clive Morley and the Ladykilla. Benergys warming up the barstaff and local vagrants from 8-9 if anyones up for coming down then ( old benergys pushing for a later set in future which i reckon would be fine if only he'd bought some records a bit more recently, i can deal with all my old tunes getting cained but i dont want him playing them all night). We can expect some varied shit from the das meisters where anything goes, me and idle are gonna be throwing down some raw music from breaks to electro to old skool and a little dubstep and grime from me to garnish. Clive Morley and Ladykilla will provide some straight up party time breaks and i'll expect they'll be reseting the turn tables to a flatter speed after me and idle have been playing everything at +8.

FRUITSTOCK - regents park london 6-7 August

On saturday and sunday i'm working at some crazy free festival in regents park called fruit stock, i'm not sure what im meant to be doing there but hopefully you wont see me going round dressed as a giant lemon or anything stupid like that. Hopefully they'll be some good weather although thatsa never a given on these beautiful isles. Theres a quite eclectic world music line up including giles peterson (who im looking forward to) and loads of other madness and people who I plainly havent heard of but will be good non the less i'm sure. After the festivites on sunday are finished i'm gonna flee east to the realms of old street for some dubbed out dubstep action with large portions of sub-bass to discombobulate my body to the next dimension. Its got all the regular dubsteppers playing and its lookings to be heavy weight, if only in the bass department. Theres Mala, Coki, Loefah, kode 9 and benny ill . and its at the old blue last, 39 great eastern street ec2, just off old street . it runs from 7-midnight and i reckon its gonna be the perfect way to finish off the weekend. I'll post up the flyer in a minute.

I'm pleased to announce a new arrival to the web review crew, a life long total niceness supporter and a suburban scratch master aswell. Residing in Peckham and working for those bastards as TFL Mr Idle will undoubtedly inform and amaze anyone who cares to look with his insightful views and his perverted love for old skool records that are well past there sell be dates. Reg should also keep people up to date with the electro side of tings and hopefully we're meant to be doing some sort of bastardised 3 deck electro/dubstep/breakstep/oldskool mash up mix with a spot of grime thrown in for good measure. If he ever gets his shit together and brings over the third deck to my gaff, it will eventually find its way here.
